Hartwig Schultz aka DEEP SCHULZZ, resides in Berlin and there he lets his phat bass have an absolutely inspiring symbiosis with impellent and nervous House-Music, the result of which sometimes is downright inflaming. At the same time a solid elegance pervades the whole thing delivering often enough cinematic moments.
DEEP SCHULZZ performs on the acoustic bass, the materialization of analog sound, and in his cosmos of color and rhythm he lets it chase the digital scallywags down the alley. System and virtuosity however are immanent, the consequence of which are an immense tightness and the aforementioned inflaming effect. Cranking and majestic sometimes the bass plays a rhythmical melody like in the album's title-track KURS or in the jazzy URBANILAICUM, then it may come sequenced and staccato-wise like in GOLD CONTAINER... the grand omnipresence of this extremely likable instrument leaves your ears stimulated the whole album through.
KURS is the departure to new territories in 21st century Housemusic; quite some boundaries are left behind and if you allow it you will be taken on a journey that entertains as well as it feeds the brain.
