DV2600 - THE CITY by Art Teachers, 3 track EP [12:35]

From the cold German winter of 1985 come these three tracks by ART TEACHERS. It was that winter when Stefan Griesshaber and Oberst Gregor started to realize their musical vision. Born and raised in the periphery of South German motor city Stuttgart both of them were very fond of the surrounding industrial landscapes and logically this is reflected in the music of ART TEACHERS. "The City" is the ultimate apotheosis of peripheric industrial flair.

It starts with "I don't earn money", a speedy microhit where the bass and the DR-110 rhythmbox dominate. Sort of a worker's lament. "Construction site dub" is a soothing instrumental with nice echo and spring reverb effects; deep and fleshy. Both of the aforementioned songs have already been released separately as DV500 and DV1300.

"The City" ends with the previously unreleased song of the same title. It's about taking the interurban train and heading for the city where glass and steel tempt the perpheric who is used to brick and concrete. Smoking and making fun of the city people add to the pleasure... Again it's bass and DR-110 doing the job plus an overall dirty sound wherein Stefan's vocals reign; cool synth and guitar sounds make it complete.
